Alameda County Community Food Bank
With the harvest season here, the Green Team and the Ministry of Outreach, Mission and Service (OMS) will again sponsor a service day at the Alameda County Community Food Bank, located at 7900 Edgewater Dr. in Oakland, Saturday, November 5 from 1–4 pm.
We will sort food for distribution to nearly one in five Alameda County residents. The Food Bank distributes more than 2 million pounds of food every month to alleviate persistent hunger in Alameda County, serves as a clearinghouse for food for nonprofit agencies, and distributes food to 240 member agency partners—food pantries, soup kitchens (hot meals), child-care centers, senior centers, after-school programs and other community-based organizations—more than 50% of it in the form of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Please sign up at worship on October 23 or 30, or email Paul Chapman. We have spots for 20 volunteers.
