Diverse Families Project to Launch

Library

In January, the Family, Children and Youth Ministry launches the Diverse Families Project Exploration Series, to provide opportunities at First Church for families to explore and grow spiritually with others specifically with regard to issues of diversity and difference.

Four upcoming Diverse Families gatherings will offer parents a space to explore topics related to raising a spiritually grounded family that strives to embrace the dazzling (and sometimes overwhelming) array of human diversity in our world. Children and youth will meet in age-based groups to engage in parallel exploration.

The first Exploration, “Raising an “out and proud’ Christian family in the Bay Area: Challenges and Rewards” will be held on Sunday, January 10. The parent discussion will be facilitated by Rachel Bauman in the Library. Children and youth group locations will be announced soon. Nursery childcare will be available.

Discussions groups will be held from 4:30–6 pm, with dinner afterwards from 6–6:45 pm (main dish provided). Participants are asked to bring a side, beverage or dessert for the meal. RSVP (to ensure sufficient space and food) to Rachel Sing or Emma S. (contact them by sending an email to the church office at info@fccb.org).
