Interested in being a better sight reader?
Join Derek Tam, First Church Berkeley's Director of Music, on an 8-week sight-reading course designed to help choral singers strengthen their musical sight-reading skills through guided practice. The course will begin on Thursday, September 6 and meet each week through October 24.
This class is intended for singers who have a basic understanding of music theory—know note names on treble and bass clef, understand basic rhythmic values (eighth note, quarter note, half note, whole note).
Maximum class size is 20.
Cost $80 (payable to First Church Berkeley; collected on first day of class)
Materials (purchased before first class): Sing at First Sight, Book 1: Foundations in Choral Sight-Singing, by Beck/Surmani/Lewis (available at Amazon for $7.99 + S&H/tax). Supplementary materials will be provided in-class.
Contact Derek (firstname.lastname@example.org) before August 20 to register
Singers are welcome to further hone their skills by participating in First Church's Sanctuary Choir, a volunteer ensemble that meets from 7–9 pm immediately after the class.
