Sanctuary & Front Lawn
All are invited to join in as First Church welcomes the new season with a Fall Festival Sunday on September 24 beginning at 10 am.
The day will be a perfect opportunity to "try out" the First Church community if you are looking for a place for refreshment for your whole self! From worship through the “after-party” expect joy and celebration, including a bouncy house set up in the playground behind the church.
Senior Minister Molly Baskette will preach and the service will include special music. Rumors are that the Ukulele Orchestra will perform.
That Sunday will also mark the beginning of the fall Sunday School schedule which includes break-outs by age: Preschool (ages 3-5), Godly Play (K – 3rd grades) and the Bible Intro Class (4th – 6th grades). Children will attend the first part of the 10 am worship service with their parents and leave for Sunday School after the Children’s Sermon. Parents are invited to accompany their children to their new classrooms and then return to the Sanctuary when they are ready.
The nursery will also be open throughout the service in Loper Chapel. A special activity area for parents and children will be set up as usual in the Hall of Entrance for those who wish to stay close by the service.
For the “After-Party” which is our new name for the fellowship time after church, congregation members are invited to bring some potluck food to share. Musicians will gather to jam in the Cloister outside.
Also, First Church’s Public Theologian in Residence Marvin K. White will hold his first “workship” from 11:45 to 1 pm. More about that event…
