Rabbi Stephen Pearce will deliver the third and final presentation in the series InterFaith Perspectives on the Environment, sharing a Jewish point of view. He will speak during the 10 am Learning Hour on Sunday, October 19 in the large Assembly.
Previous presentations, co-produced by the First Church Green Ministry Team, looked at environmental issues from Muslim and Christian viewpoints.
Rabbi Pearce is senior rabbi emeritus of Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco. He served that congregation from 1193?2013. He is also an author and educator. Adult Education Co-chair Judy Cox studied with Rabbi Pearce at the University of San Francisco. "He is a magnetic speaker, and a Biblical scholar (including the Christian Bible), with deep psychological insights. He also has an extraordinary sense of humor which he uses to make points in his presentations and a strong ability to connect Biblical stories with current life."
Rabbi Pearce holds a D.D. from Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion and a Ph.D. in Counselor Psychology from St. John?s University. He has served on the board of the Graduate Theological Union.
He has received numerous awards including recognition from the San Francisco Interfaith Council for encouraging green sustainability at Temple Emanu-El.
