Alameda County Community Food Bank
The Ministry of Justice & Service will be sponsoring a service day at the Alameda County Community Food Bank, located at 900 Edgewater Dr. in Oakland, Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 1–4 pm. We will help by sorting food for distribution to nearly one in five Alameda County residents.
The Food Bank distributes more than two million pounds of food every month in an effort to alleviate the persistent hunger in Alameda County. It serves as a clearinghouse for donated, surplus and purchased food for nonprofit agencies and distributes food to 240 member agency partners—food pantries, soup kitchens (hot meals), child-care centers, senior centers, after-school programs and other community-based organizations—with more than 50% of the food in the form of fresh fruits and vegetables.
