Lent & Holy Week 2019: Why Christian? Why Church?

Lent 2019 logo

Our Lent worship theme for 2019 is: Why Christian? Why Church?

In this “post-Christian” era when most secular folks think of our chosen religion as judgmental, hateful, and hypocritical (with plenty of evidence to back them up!) what do we find compelling, even essential, about the Christian faith?

And in this fabulous metro area where we have scads of “cooler” spiritual options untainted by scandal or the sin of boringness, why do we do something as strange and outdated as go to church?

Over the 6+ weeks of Lent we’ll sneak up on answers to these questions and more, as we recommit ourselves to the hard and holy work of the Way of Jesus.

And the season will culminate with a whole series of events during Holy Week, from Palm Sunday on April 14 to Easter Sunday on April 21.

On Holy Saturday, April 20, 2019 First Church hosts its first "Jesus Christ Super-Sing-Along at 7 pm in the Sanctuary.
