First Church is delighted to announce that Loi Almeron and Kim Druziako will serve as Emerging Leaders at First Church in 2017–2018. Kim is new to the position and Loi will continue on after beginning mid-term last February.
Over the last few years these positions have provided opportunities for gaining experience in local church leadership. First Church has, in turn, received the gifts of talented and inspiring leaders from a variety of disciplines.
Kim Druziako is currently a deacon at First Church. A recent addition to the congregation, she is working to discern her calling and has her eyes on seminary in the next year or two. She can be found in a number of different roles and events across the life of the church, including Sunday worship and Open Chapel.
Loi Almeron has attended First Church since 2014, when she moved from the Philippines to pursue her Masters in Journalism at UC Berkeley. She grew up attending UCC churches in the Philippines. Loi participated in the International Solidarity Mission in Mindanao, Philippines on behalf of FCCB in 2015. She is also a member and organizer for Student Christian Movement and World Student Christian Federation of North America.
Although some of the Emerging Leaders have been seminary students or graduates, it isn’t a requirement of the position. Kim and Loi will join the Worship Planning Team and will participate in worship leadership in a variety of ways. They will also engage in other projects related to their particular interests.
The Emerging Leader term is from September to May. These positions, which are about 15 hours a week, are supported with special funding provided by a member of the First Church community.
