For the second time a group from First Church took part in a peaceful demonstration to share messages of love and bear witness to the killing of African-Americans and other people of color by police.
The group gathered after church on Sunday, October 23 to make signs with positive messages of love and support. Because the event called Berkeley Sunday Streets was taking place near Congregation Beth El, where the First Church community is temporarily worshiping, they shifted from their original plan to be at the Ashby BART Station.
As in the previous demonstration, participants found that visitors approached them for hugs and conversations. Others gave acknowledging waves, nods and smiles.
The event was organized by Constance Dixon-Sorogane.
