Nearly three dozen First Church folk participated in a service day on March 11 sponsored by Urban Releaf to plant trees that will restore the city’s canopy.
The event was sponsored by the First Church Green Ministry Team for the fifth year in a row.
This year the group planted 15 trees at 400 Broadway in downtown Oakland and at Brookfield Elementary School near the Coliseum. Previously we planted trees at Oakland’s Dialysis Center, the Wose Church, McConnell Park, and Elmhurst Elementary School.
The mission of the Green Team is to respect, enjoy and preserve God’s gift of life on Earth.
