San Francisco Pride is coming up! Our historic Queer-affirming high holiday! We have two opportunities to show up and show ourselves as an LGBT-embracing community.
To honor our 24 years of being an Open and Affirming church, and to make sure East Bay neighbors looking for a church like ours know who and where we are, we will participate fully in San Francisco Pride celebration.
SF Pride Paraders Needed
Come be the inviting face of First Church as we show solidarity with the LGBTQA+ community at the SF Pride Parade on Sun., June 30, 2–4 pm. Carry a sign, wear a steeple hat, fling biodegradable glitter, and hand out hugs and lollypops, while wearing your Motley Pew t-shirt!
Please arrive no later than 2:30 pm at position #261 on Block R, which is on Beale St. between Mission and Howard Sts. Our entry is “First Congregational Church.” Look for a pimped-up black Mini-Cooper, several Steeple Hats, plenty of posters with hearts on them, and other people in Motley Pew shirts! Contact co-leaders Bree Elle Gardner (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Trust Hilton (trust.hilton@gmail. com) for more details.
SF Trans March Paraders & Huggers Needed
Come be the inviting face of First Church as we show solidarity with the Trans community at the SF Trans March on Fri. Jun. 28, 5:30-7:30 pm! Carry a sign, wear a steeple hat, or just be there for hugging, while wearing your Motley Pew t-shirt!
We will also celebrate Pride at church that Sunday morning as well. Let Rev. Kit Novotny know if you can help decorate early before church.
Lastly, do not be afraid to show up LATE or at the last minute (especially if crowds and heat are not your thing)!
