Green Team Encourages Public Comments Against Clean Power Plan Repeal

Thu, Jan 4, 2018

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency right now is considering public comments on its proposal to repeal the Clean Power Plan (CPP), the Obama administration’s main plan for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the core of US promises made to 195 other countries in the Paris Agreement. The CPP instructs states to work with electric utilities to bring down their GHG emissions, with the aim that US emissions collectively from power plants would fall by 32 percent by 2030.

The First Church Green Ministry Team has decided to write to the EPA to plead with the agency to not repeal the CPP. We urge others to consider writing to the EPA as well. To comment on the repeal proposal, go to The comment period ends on Tuesday, January 16.

Climate change is wreaking havoc with weather all over the globe, adding to the ferocity of wildfires and floods and causing significant suffering. We feel we have a moral duty to support solutions to climate change.
