If you have seen the round, flat purple cushions in the Hall of Entrance or Sanctuary on worship days, no, they are not gifts left behind after an alien visitation. They are “wiggle seats” or, in occupational therapy parlance, stability balance disks.
They are used therapeutically to help children (especially those with ADHD) to stay focused, so our church kids can participate more fully in worship, without asking them to behave in ways that are beyond their developmental level or abilities.
The cushions also feel good on your body, and are fun! And the best news is: we now have enough that even the grownups can use them sometimes.
