Sermon

In Deuteronomy 30:15-20, Moses calls his people to choose life and follow God’s commandments. After confessing her challenges with obedience and the binary starkness of life and death that is articulated in the scripture, Minister of Community Life Rachel Bauman explores the context for Moses words—his people are about to enter the promised land after wandering in the desert—and what God is calling the people to do: to be generous with the poor, to work for justice, to pay workers fairly no matter who they are or where they come from, to leave some of their crops in the fields for those in need, and to keep the Sabbath holy. These are also messages that Jesus taught as well.
