Phil Porter
Sunday Mar 26, 2017 10:00am

Minister of Art of Communication Phil Porter begins by reading the story of Jesus healing the man born blind (John 9:1-41). It’s a long story, not just about the healing but also all the reaction to it, including questions about what had actually happened and the outrage that Jesus was healing on the Sabbath. Phil suggests that the truth can be difficult to see for many reasons, including our own myopia and stubborn. If we are to resist politically, we should do that with as clear and as wide an understanding as possible. Humility can also be an important spiritual practice as we try to expand our own point of view. Director of Music Derek Tam and Church Musician Amar Khalsa also perform a piece composed by Phil called “The Color of Blue” which tells the story from the blind man’s point of view.
