Sermon

Zacchaeus was a tax collector, not one of the most popular people around who was intrigued enough by Jesus to climb up into a tree to get a glimpse of him. Jesus calls him by name, implores him to come down and invites himself to Zacchaeus’ house for dinner. Minister of Community Life Rachel Bauman notices that it was Zaccaeus’ joy at being truly seen by Jesus that led him, unprovoked to share his wealth and make right any financial injustices he might have created. She invited the community to remember the ways that they had seen God and been seen by God and to let their sense of generosity to flow from that joy.
